Something is fishy about this

  1. Did Weinke look that bad? Take away a couple of drops and he was having a descent pre-season until the 2nd half of the New England game. Even then, the entire team lacked intensity and several other players made big mistakes.

the interception for a td last week..i couldn't tell if it was chris' fault or the receivers...it looked to me like one read one thing and the other read another...which is what is supposed to happen in pre-season.

This has to be contract related. I bet he has some type of escalator if he is named starter on opening day. this goes back to what i've said before, the panther's management is about making money (or not spending it) not about winning games.

Well, I disagree with you about making money, but I've speculated it's CAP related. There is a difference. I think JR would gladly have a $150 million roster if he knew he'd win the SuperBowl.

Yeah - I think there's bound to be an escalator for this year that would BIND us to Weinke as far as the cap goes. If the staff has as many doubts as they seem to, they're doing the right thing.

Is there a Panther talk tonight?

    Weinke Possibilities

I've already mowed the grass, weeded and done my chores. Too much time left in the day. I have been thinking about Weinke. One possibility makes sense to me. I don't think he has played himself out of a job. Peete hasn't won it, neither has Fasani. (I like Fasani as a qb but not yet). Could Weinke have quit? Pulled a Collins, hearts not in it.? Fox would name Peete the starter and try to get something for Weike. Makes as much since as anything else I've read.

Meat went to practice and reported that Weinke was w/ the second team. If your theory was held, I think they would have had Fasani working w/ the second team. But then again, nothing would surprise me right now.

Trade him to Miami for Rosenfels. Send Weinke back to Florida!
Rosenfels is going to be a good QB when he gets a shot, I liken him to Warner in some ways. Not quit as good a passer, but mobile and very smart.

With the shit that's been stirred up with Jeffers possibly taking legal action against the team (most likely the team doctor) why even try getting out of paying a guy the contract your GM agreed to by benching him? The NFLPA will be up JR's ass on his one. This too may end up in court. JR and company need to wake up before serious damage is done to the franchise. We're talking zero FA even looking to play here if this can be proven, not to mention draft picks wanting gobs of guaranteed money up front to even sign.

I think Jeffers has a case. Look at all the FA we've had in here...looks more like a *M*A*S*H* unit than a football team. Jeffers may have been rushed back, but he should have enlisted the option of a second opinion.

Didn't his knee flare up again during a voluntary camp though? If it did he can't blame anyone but himself for coming back too early.
