a lot of the talking heads and sportswriters have made a point of explaining how Hideki Matsui's consecutive game streak is over because of some MLB rule that sez that because he didn't complete a half inning in the field, he officially didn't play in last night's game.

OK. But wouldn't the streak have ended anyway, albeit one game later? I assume he's not playing in the next game.

where's that knucklehead two-six when you need him?

no, i'm not currently in need of pc help. rs doesn't even know i'm here, and the, ahem, GARDEN TRACTOR has sat untouched for several days. now that we have that out of the way.

until a starter plays a full inning in the field OR has a plate appearance (walks, sac bunts or flys, or interference/obstruction rulings for instance aren't an official at bat for stat purposes, but anything is a plate appearance), then that player did not play. kinda stupid really, but there are several more.

like you said, not like it really mattered seeing as how his wrist was clearly broken looking at the replay.

on a related note, i broke my forearm in an almost identical way. i was sliding at an angle and instead of shooting my arm back behind me and getting the wrist like he did, my elbow was locked into the left side of my body and the forearm bones were the ones that gave. unlike matsui, i caught the ball, the damn pussy.

    oh yeah, fuck the yankees.
