Do you think next year is the make-or-break year for the Cats ?
The way the draft is falling, we should have a great shot at either Oden or Durant ( I think I'd rather have Durant).
Then, we'd have a corp group of Felton/Morrison/Wallace/May/Okafor/Durant, or something similar...plus, we have TONS of free agent money to spend, should be able to lure at least one more good player here.
Plus, Bernie seems like this is his last hurrah, so we can go get a better coach as well.
So, all the pieces would be in place for a playoff run .
THEN, we can see if Charlotte would turn out for an NBA team.
I think if all of this happens, and we still draw miserably, that will be a telling sign. Any thoughts on this, or will Bob mess it up somehow ?

I'd rather have Odin. Both have equal upside. Durant will be too slow to play SF in the NBA and for a while too weak to play PF. Meanwhile Oden is 7-0 and would be a solid player on the right team. Problem is, Ohio St. is a run and gun team and Oden is a 1/2 court offense guy. They don't really mesh well, but in the next few years the franchise centers in the NBA are gonna start retiring, and there will be a lack of dominant 7 footers. Oden, assuming he develops as billed, will be one of the very few.

Oh and as far as the team draw goes, it'll take 2 good seasons. One to build the base. People will start watching on TV (if they can) when the team starts winning. They'll attend a few games and it will probably be NEAR sellout status. However the NEXT year... then it'll be hard to get a seat.

The Bobcats are just a couple players from being really quite good.

Gerald Wallace and Matt Carroll are free agents. Re-signing both of them should be of high priority. Both guys are capable, low maintenance role players.

Morrison and May (if he gets healthy) are never going to be stars, but would be fantastic off the bench guys.

Okafor and Felton are both quality players who I'd like to keep forever.

Brevin Knight is nearing the end of his career, Derrick Anderson is also old, and Primoz his garbage.

We've got flexibility with Okafor and Wallace, since Emeka can play the 4 or 5 and Wallace can play the 2 or 3 (or 4 in a pinch).

Optimal situation would be drafting Oden and signing Rashard Lewis or Vince Carter. Oden, Okafor, Lewis, Wallace, Felton would be quite formidable.

There's not a whole lot of big men in FA, but the top of the draft is absolutely loaded. If you run the draft machine thing over at ESPN.com, 8 of the top 14 guys are PF or C's.

Interesting FA idea: Darko. Of course, he might just be Primoz 2.0.

Primoz looked good the first year and I don't know what's happened to turn him into such a garbage player now. He sure sure seemed to be a great grab in the expansion draft. Now he should be playing in the developmental league.

I would not be surprised if ABernie steps down as head coach at seasons end, and continues his GM duties.

MJ has said the Bobcats are giong to spend in FA to attract talent. Nucleus of Okafor/Felton/Wallace/Morrison is good and young.

They are close, but there is still work to be done. And no, I don't think the team will fold after just 3-5 seasons. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Bernie will be gone next year.
whoever they draft, Okafor needs to play center. they have really gone to shit since he went out a few games ago. they haven't won a game since hes been out. teams are running lay-up drills on the Bobcats with no defensive anchor in the middle.

dont know who they will get in FA but its a foregone conclusion that Vince Carter will sign with Orlando.hes from FL and lives in Orlando.scratch him off the list.
