We switched from Time Warner here in SE NC. I really had no complaints about Time Warner. DirectTV is very reliable and we have rarely lost signal even during the tropical storms. Time Warner did have an issue at time with the digital distortion (where the things would freeze up and you'd see a bunch of blocks) also. DirectTV is just less expensive and offers more variety. We still use the cable company for internet since we got rid of our home phone lines.

Dookie mentioned it, but I can see why people would scoff at the idea.

However, for me, the 50+ Bobcat games are a VERY good reason to keep TWC over DTV. Of course, having an hdtv, I still would love to switch to DTV (can't due to my apt currently) but the situation really puts Charlotte sports fans in a shitty situation.

I want my Bobcats, I want NFL Network, and lastly I want Direct Ticket. I also want 70 hdtv channels. Direct TV has three of the four, but it doesn't have Bobcats. I don't care that 'no one watches.' I watch, that's all I care about. The Bobcats suck for putting their games on an exclusive channel, and the NFL sucks for a lot of the same reasons. The little guys always get screwed, nothing changes.

Well I have had DirectTV for over 8 years at 2 different houses and the ONLY time I lose my signal is when we have a large thunderstorm move through. It's not everytime but it's always due to clouds and heavy rains. The satelite has min 98% signal and I have no trees around the dish, it is the rain / heavy clouds that cause the outage. The longest outage I have had was about 15 mins.
