I watching the game and they mentioned assistand Phil Ford for the Detroit Pistons. I never knew. Pat Sullivan is an assistant also. Just to think Matt Do kicked them to the curb when he came in.

Sullivan was there last year. This is Ford's first year w/ the team.

Matt Doherty has got to be the stupidest son of a bitch that has ever lived. He threw out Ford, Sullivan and Hanners and brought in a bunch of idiots for assistants that had coached in small time college programs. They probably thought a McDonald All America was some kind of weird sandwich. I really feel like that if Doherty had kept Ford et. al. and had got counseling for his bi-polar tendencies, he would be coach of North Carolina today, albeit he would not be doing as well as Coach Williams. I'm glad things worked out like they did, although I wish Phil and the rest could come back to UNC as assistant coaches.

I think Doherty wanted out of Dean's shadow and keeping his old assistants was not going to get that done.

No Ford wanted on with Roy Williams actually. But he didn't have space. Roy promised him the first open spot was his, but he's been sitting on the sideline longer than he'd like. Larry Brown provided him a chance to get back in to coaching some.

Dont forget Dave Hanners, a former UNC assistant on the Pistons' staff.
