    If god intended it to be a sin, he wouldn't have created it--at least that's my defense when it comes to weed and chain smoking cigs when I'm drinking a fine alcoholic drink with my buds.

    I feel the same way you do, CG8. If a person believes in creation, then how can they think the creator did not have an intent and purpose for everything he put here. Plus, we have brain receptors for these herbs, etc, so the human body was designed to respond (get high, get off, whatever).

    God created many things in this world that are dangerous. God also created many things in this world that are used dangerously. There is a difference, and the responsibility for the consequences of the latter always fall on our shoulders, not His.

    I don't agree that ability necessarily equates to intent or purpose. Just because we're capable of doing something doesn't automatically mean we were meant to do that thing.

    Not quite. An "image" of something doesn't mean it's the same thing. It just means there's a likeness. And even if it starts out as a copy, that doesn't mean the copy won't change into something different when given free will, especially over time. A boy may be the "spitting image" of his father, but that doesn't mean he will grow up to be the same man, and reflect the same character. Heck, even twins almost always have differing personalities.
