doesn't it say we are to keep our bodies pure? sounds to me like that would mean no smoking or drugs of any kind.

People like to point fingers. I think smoking has become a HUGE thing to point fingers at the past ten years. We are more informed how it harms etc.
But everyone has sin in their lives they aren't "kicking" very well. Weather its gossiping, over eating, being vain etc.
Remember when your mom used to tell you...when your pointing your finger there are three pointing back at you. I still think that's good advice.
I go to a "different" church. We have lots of people that are new to any type of religion in their lives. Lots of them go outside and light up after services. Doesn't bother me. I'm just glad they are searching.

I personally do not like smoking. I do not like the smell of the smoke and I especially hate being in a building where a lot of people are smoking. It ruins a meal and does a number on my sinuses. I usually find that smokers are inconsiderate and will do anything to get their next fix, including smoking where they are not supposed to.

I can not find scripture to specifically support that smoking is a sin though. In a general sense it harms your body but so does over eating, being a couch potato and spending too much time on message boards.

I hear ya... just this Saturday I was walking in Office Max and 2 employees were standing right in the freakin doorway just a puffing away. I almost didn't go in but after I made my way through the smoke, I suggested to the store manager he offer them an alternative place to smoke or lose my $200 a month I spend in his store for office supplies...

I'm not saying you were wrong. I'm just curious. What if the employees would been eating greasy burgers and some of the ketchup got on your shoe. Would you have said the same thing to the manager?

Certainly if it got on me. If they would have simply walked about 20 feet away from the entry to the side they would have not bothered anyone...

That's the ideal, yes. But it's not really part of salvation doctrine.
