    that was my take on it.

    FWIW, I don't know whether Smith would be up on this award list if Muhammad was in the community for the full year this year. I would guess not, but that's not to take away from what Smith may have done. To me, the three guys doing good in the city were Muhammad, Minter, and Rucker back in the day.

    that was in his 3rd year? I doubt he did, only because he hadn't established himself fully in the league yet. Sure he was a Pro Bowl PR/KR as a rookie, but he wasn't where he is now.

    I was in Raleigh for his rookie season, but came to CLT in 2002, so I can not say if he did anything at all in his rookie year.
