Barring a trade (not likely), that pretty much guarantees he retires as a Panther.

I was surprised to see he is ranked 32nd all-time in WR recieving yards. 2-3 more solid seasons could easily put him in the top 15. Another season or two of elite performance could land him top 10. He did win a "triple crown" a few years back (catches/yards/TDs).

If he remains productive for the bulk of this contract, are we talking Hall of Fame?

I don't know if he's HOF worthy. I might change that if the Panthers go to the Super Bowl and he catches 3 TD's. But honestly, if Chris Carter isn't in, no fucking way Smitty gets in.

However, I feel comfortable saying it looks like he will retire as the greatest Panthers player ever, and I'm really happy with this deal. Doesn't cancel out the unbelievably stupid Godfrey and DW deals, but, oh well.

Between the seasons lost to injury and bad Quarterbacking, no HOF.

But HOF talent in my book.
