Panthers called him a marginal WR -

Smith said "that is a spit in the face"

according to my source, Smith started just spouting off about how disrespected he is with the panthers, and Karl Hankton had to pull him away...

Muhammad was sitting just 3 chairs away and didn't say a word during the whole tirade... I wonder if being the second highest paid WR in the league last season had anything to do with that?

I wonder how much of the Tirade will make it to print tomorrow...

They said that? I mean, I certainly don't disagree. He's at best inconsistent, has a way low YPC for his playing style, and gets his yardage in chunks. I.E. he's better used as a slot receiver and return man.

But I wouldn't say it, especially in contract negotiations. What exactly was said, and where is this from?

Hurney supposedly said it to Smith's agent during negotiations, and it got back to Steve...

smith is a far more skilled kick returner than receiver. he's more than just a receiver to this team. he's a momentum-changer.

fuck, there goes our focus for the Saints

back to anger management classes for you Smith

He's a playmaker, no doubt, but I'm still having a hard time calling him a legitimate #2 opposite Moose. I think if we get a #2, Smith as a 3rd WR is an awesome weapon.

Piper showed that Muhammad was certainly not amongst the top five of WRs in pay, even though most receivers aren't in as late of their contracts as Muhammad is. Muhammad's contract wasn't outrageous then, and it's not incredible now, either. I don't expect him to play for what he's scheduled to make next year, either they'll dump him or they'll work out a contract with him to keep him. But pay has nothing to do with it. Muhammad and Walls didn't do anything when Bright was getting punched in the nose, either. That'd be a bigger deal to me. That Smith wants to whine isn't anybody's loud mouthed f'ing problem other than Steve's. If I were Karl I'd have let him go.

Yep. Apparently this means Smith wanted Muhammad money when he's not good enough for the 4y, $11 mil Jeffers deal.
