Millen and Morningwig (sp?) both want Harrington a Detroit Free Press article a few weeks back said so. I can only see this move being made in order to get him

That doesn't make any sense. We certainly aren't after a QB in round one and Carr sounds like he'll be the only one gone. Why the hell would they want to trade up to get Harrington when he'll still be there?
Now, I have heard they are interested in Peppers in past reports. That would be the only situation that I could see the Lions offering up, knowing that Peppers is likely to be our pick.
It's too early for this to be remotely true, anyway.

I've been curious... is lamar Smith the same Lamar Smith that was on the Panther's roster a few years back??? I remember someone with that name or a similar name and I had wondered since I saw him making news with the Fins

assuming it were true, either scenario would apply. Harrington is a need, but so is Peppers. Hell, it might be worth the extra two picks just to have the uncertainty.

Right now I'd be just about as happy with the Jammer+2+4 deal as I would with Peppers. But the real kicker would be if we pulled that deal off and still got Peppers. The downside is that we'd have to take Jammer at 3 if Peppers was gone because there's no value there to trade down. I guess Dallas could try to trade up but they could just as well get Buchanon.

If we are indeed willing to trade the #2 pick and the Texans are willing to trade the #1 you're looking at several teams in need of a QB that may want to trade up. You have Buffalo, Kansas City, Jacksonville, and Cincinnati all in the top 10 who may be looking to draft a QB. Any of those four plus Houston and Detroit would all be jockeying to insure they get their crack at one of TWO guys.

To be honest, the Texans couldn't afford the risk of trading down if they want Carr. What's to prevent us from say trading down again to some one like Buffalo so that they can grab the other QB that's left? Another deal besides the one supposedly on the table with Detroit wouldn't guarantee us Peppers however, only more picks.

Let's look at the teams in question at QB:

Texans-no QB on present roster, may sign Graham as the backup

Lions-McMahon, Detmer, Driesbach, Batch to ve cut June1

Bills-Van Pelt, Brown, may try and sign Blake. They will be out of the trade up derby if they do.

Chiels-Green, Collins, Germaine Doesnt exactly inspire confidence

Jaguars-Brunell, Robinson. Quinn is UFA they'll need some one

    Bengals-Kitna, Smith, Covington See Chiefs

I think at this point there no way the Texans even think of trading away that #1 pick. Maybe if they had signed Johnson they would consider a trade down but now everything is definitely pointing towards Carr.

Plus I don't think we are interested in dropping out of the Top ten in draft order, so it would be pretty tough for the Chiefs or the Bengals to get ahead of the Lions. If the trade did or does happen it would mean they likely want Peppers.

If the Texans sign a starting QB, Peppers will no longer be ours.
I don't think the Texans will move or go for the FA QB. They are in the drivers seat, they can basically make their pick now.

Personally, I don't see the Texans moving down, The proposed trade with Detroit just insures that they don't even see it as a valid option.

I think you mean Marquette Smith. Lamont Smith was with the Seahawks behind Warren, then signed to be the starter with the Saints the year before Ricky Williams was drafted.

  10. Lamar Lathon + Marquett Smith = Lamar Smith.

Didn't we have a Kevin Smith, too?
