Has anyone heard anything on the possible signing of Lamar Smith other than what the observer reported in the paper this morning? Also, over at charlotte.com someone posted that espn news reported that the Panthers and Lions are trading draft picks and the Panthers will pick up the Lions 4th round pick. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Yeah - I think that dude was full of crap. Never seen him post before, and he wouldn't resond to questions of a source.....

It'd be a decent deal - losing Peppers *for who? who would we want instead?*, and getting the 34,35, and the 2nd AND 3rd picks on day 2.

    Interesting......but I think bs.

The Lions would only do this if they are going to draft Harrington or Carr. This move would make the Texans stay put at 1st overall or risk losing out on either at QB. Peppers would still be there at number three.

It works for me in that we'd then have nine draft picks instead of seven. It would also give us the option of trading the two second round picks in order to jump back into the late 1st round to grab some one we may want,

I guess if we wanted Jammer, might as well make the move to get him instead, but it's stupid to make a move this early.

If we did do a deal the week of the draft a swap of firsts and getting a 2 and 4 out of the deal, that's not too bad. And like Meat says, we could get two of the top three players remaining on day two, and two of the top three that make it out of the first.

But all the moves we've made point at Peppers.
and I can't find the post anyway.

I dunno Tim, if they wanted Peppers and we didn't, then we could hold the pick hostage and make them take our pick.

I've been watching espn news and all they are talking about is basketball. The passed 30 minutes has been nothing but news conferences.
