here is a very clear article about it all. essentially the Big East football schools are saying adios to their basketball only schools, which will leave the hoop B.E. teams searching and they keep the name "big east." They will cherry pick the A10 and CUSA for basketball only schools.

guess that agreement with Marq, St Louis, Depaul, and Charlotte is done

I think we still have a chance to be with the Big East B ball only schools if they expand to 10 or possibly even 12, who really knows???????

Nothing can or will happen until 2005-2006 so there will be spectulation for a whole year as to what will happen. I hope that if we have a good year people will look at us and want us to be apart of their conference. I personally don't see a Catholic league starting up, I don't know what advantages there would be to having one.

    Folks:
Hate to bad mouth us, but we are not like anyone else-
    We don't have football.
We aren't a Jesuit or Religious private institution.
We are a state school that is NOT the state's flagship.
And, we are not even fourth choice in our major market.
All we have to offer is a good men's basketball past and that fact that we call Charlotte home.

So, with that said, we will have to pull a major rabbit out of hat and pray like hell someone sees us for what we WILL have when this ridiculous football-driven transformation blows the NCAA to smither-frickin-reens!

Peace to you and your people.

O'kay Real I can see your point. My question is , if we do not "pull a rabbit out of the hat" where are we likely to end up. I keep seeing where everyone( including myself )would like our best case scenario, grouped with the Big East schools. No one has shown a theory where we will be if the Big East schools feel we are not a good fit. I understand no one knows for sure but the rumors have been preceeding the facts and I wonder what the domino effect rumors are. Our staff must have a feel for this to prepare our case / arguement.

A-10? What will it look like and does the Big East gut it?

C-USA? What does it look like?
