This is a friendly reminder to check yourself and those you love.

Any area that is changing (growing, changing color, bleeding, scabbing, comes and goes) needs to be checked.

I just did some CME credits on Nonmelanoma type skin cancers and thought I should remind everyone what a simple early diagnosis could mean to you and those you love. I also just had a 'place' removed from my arm last Tuesday, so this is all fresh on my mind.

I used to do cancer staging. This means I would see patients who had certain cancers and stage how their treatment was going with diagnostic tests.

I had this brilliant, funny, nice looking fella about 30. He had a great sense of humor and was so interesting to talk to. He had a great wife and kids and they would all come with him for his testing. Best I remember they had moved to the mountain area to get away from it all and be farmers although they both professional type jobs before.
Anyway, he had a melanoma on his back about an inch across right in the middle of his back. Because of where it was, he couldn't see it and his wife didn't notice it, until it was too late.
That one little inch killed him.

Check yourself and those you love.

I find this thread too forward for my taste.
