5:16 PT: The Detroit News reports Detroit Lions head coach Steve Mariucci might ask Jim Mora, Jr. if he would like to join the team if he is not hired by the San Francisco 49ers as their new head coach. Mora was Mariucci’s defensive coordinator in San Francisco.

On defense, Mariucci is waiting to see what happens to Jim Mora, his defensive coordinator in San Francisco. Mora is one of three finalists for the 49ers' head-coaching job. If Mora isn't hired in San Francisco, Mariucci will see if he wants to follow him to Detroit.

Mariucci spoke Wednesday with Kurt Schottenheimer, the Lions' defensive coordinator in 2002, and discussed scenarios with him.

"I asked him to be patient and stick with me for a while and let itself play out," Mariucci said.

I heard this morning on the radio that the 49ers HC job was down to 2, and Mora ain't one of them........but do we want another DC about to turn HC?









I do. That would mean he's pretty damn good, right?
