    Stephen Davis
    Carolina Panthers
He didn’t fit into Steve Spurrier’s offense in Washington, but the burly running back was exactly what the Panthers needed in 2003. Davis ran for 1,444 yards and eight touchdowns to help Carolina reach Super Bowl XXXVIII, where it fell to New England.

    Sweet....those were the days.

We tried to sign at least two more of that list. We lost out to Buffalo for Paup in 95, and to Jax for McCardell.

I would not really consider Davis that great of a signing. It was a nice one no doubt but I would rate Delhomme as a better free agent signing.

Tough call but for that year I have to go with Davis. He carried Jake too most of the year.

Jake carried him in the playoffs and to some extent down the stretch. Jake also played at a high level the two years after 2003 while Davis did not.

Arguments could be made for both. Long term Jake gets the nod.
