About 8 years ago I was doing dumbell shoulder presses and something in my left shoulder gave and I basically ended up dropping a 55lb dumbell on my head. Surprisingly that didn't hurt too bad. It felt sort of like it dislocated but only momentarily.

Fast forward, now it hurts. It's not noticable in typical situations but It's more noticable now when I do shoulder and chest excercises. I also feel it when I raise my arm straight over my head. It's pretty much just annoying at this point and I can't do some of the excercises I used to do.

Where exactly does it hurt in your shoulder…side or front?

Pain when raising your arm over your head is a classic sign of a rotator cuff problem. My guess is you’ve got an inflamed tendon.

If you had a doctor and actually saw one, they might order an MRI or therapy or give you some anti-inflamms for that.

You will have more pain on a consistent basis as you get older. Learn to like it and save yourself the copayment.
