Shockey

The kid reminds me a little of Ditka when he was a rookie. Talks like he belongs here, has the same square jaw...all he needs is the crew cut! The one difference is Shockey isn't touted as a blocker.
Shockey could be the first TE since Ditka ('61)to win ROY honnors!!!

 

He looks good on defense so far.

Hope he gets a couple td's since I got him in FF.

 

Shockey can't keep weight on either. I won't say he's too pretty to get his nose dirty but he isn't a blocker at all. Yeah, Parcells did say, similarly, that until Shockey drives a DE off the ball consistently, the Bavaro comparisons are bullshit.

 

I agree with the rest of you that the jury's still out on how good he'll be, but I will give him this, though. He's got a mean streak, and he seems to have a real blue-collar mentality. Not once did I see him celebrating last night. Whether he made a good play or bad, he just got up with the same intense look on his face and went back to the huddle. I, for one, am getting sick and tired of all these showboat players celebrating like Bill Gramatica after a 7 yard catch.

 

When the hell did EITHER one of the Gramatica's catch a 7 yard pass?
Shockey looked pretty good , didn't think he looked bad as a blocker at all. I know they have been working hard on his blocking skills. Campbell is an excellent blocking TE and the two have been attached at the hip in practice.
Campbell teaches Shockey how to block...and Shockey teaches Campbell how to catch & run.
