The question is not whether Shelton is more talented, we all know he is. The question is can he adjust his upright running style and learn the offense. Last night he did a good job of hitting the holes hard and finishing off his runs. Those are not things affected much by the fact he was playing against scrubs.

I still want to keep Goings but a Shelton who has corrected his fundamentals is going to be a better option for a starting tailback. Plus, I would like to see us get something out of a second round pick.

I assume he also hasn't done anything to beat out the top 3, and the press was about Haynes, who he should've beaten. Maybe he did in the end, coming in ahead of him this game. But you gotta impress to get carries like that. Average and unspectacular is Goings' job.

we're not going to cut Goings. Tell me about a guy who gets cut who's run for 800 yards in a season, will play RB and FB, will probably even play TE, has been split wide, and could very well captain special teams, and we'll probably acquire him for Shelton's spot.

Maybe Henning was trying to motivate him. If they were that down on him, it seems like they'd have cut him in the first wave.

I really want him to stick now.

Dude - show me where I said otherwise. I have always suspected the coaches hated him, and that they'd cut him. I never said i wanted it to be that way.

After not seeing him play, I did begin to presume he was not performing well in practice, or sleeping in meetings ar something. After last night when he ran so well I'm left wondering wtf is up that we don't know about.

But I never asked for Shelton to be cut, and never wanted him gone. I said that I think they'll cut him, and you thought I was nuts.

During camp, Shelton was actually one of the more upbeat players after morning practices. I have no idea why people thought he was miserable. Maybe he just has a naturally ugly face that puts people off, but whatever.

I do not think it comes down to Goings or Shelton anyway. It is Shelton vs Haynes/Robertson.

No, it was always a possibility that he would be cut. It's just that you were saying things like "Oh well, I guess that means he'll be cut" over every little thing in like a million threads. But don't sweat it, I'm just giving you a hard time.
