Shelton at H-back is an intriguing idea, especially if Skipper taught him how to be a receiver while he was on IR.

I'd still like him to be the guy he was drafted to be (as far as we know). This year, hopefully we'll find out if he can. But he may be the kind of player that takes into his third year before things start to click.

Shelton at H-back just sounds completely bizarre to me. It doesn't suit his strengths whatsoever. He's not a good blocker or receiver, and the one thing we should want him to do is carry the ball. If we're going to use someone in that role, it would be Goings. And as for the attitude thing, I'd like more evidence than "my buddy said he was a dick." At the least I'd expect some personal experience before someone jumped to that conclusion.

And on an unrelated note, I'm putting together my projections for the upcoming season and my initial line on Reggie Bush is:
150 carries, 700 rushing yards, 5 rushing touchdowns, 45 receptions, 550 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns.

Agreed. That's why I said it was intriguing. He would almost have to be completely reinvented, or at least by 2/3 (meaning he would have to be taught from scratch how to be a blocker and a receiver). Don't know if he'd really be worth all that effort.

Shelton was not drafted to play h-back. He was drafted to convert on 3rd-and-3. And not on a flare pass.

Hoover is best suited of anyone on this roster to fill that hypothetical role, although he is already busy playing fullback.

If he was a fan of another team, I could understand him blowing up a situation, however, he is a die hard Panther fan.

Anyway, and its a slow damn day.

He looked better in space than between the tackles last year. He lacks TE height, but he's got size, better hands than most of our TEs, and as I stated in a situational role he wouldn't be expected to block much at all.

No, he doesn't. Seriously man, the idea was absurd.

I think (and this is just a guess) that most of Shelton's trouble in blitz pickup had to do with not knowing his assignment. If he does, in fact, know the playbook from start to finish, I'd feel a lot more comfortable leaving him in as protection.

As for the H-Back idea, the position has never required great run blocking skills, but I don't know if Shelton can even meet the minimum. If he improves in that area, like Goings from '01-'03, then he could be useful in those other roles. As of now, I'm just not sold on that idea.

In a more realistic direction, using Foster in one-back sets could prove interesting. I agree with FSF that DeShaun has talents in the passing game that aren't being fully utilized, and he's versatile enough to give us a multi-purpose threat out of the backfield.

Ehh. Honestly, I feel his hands are fine, but the end result is that "the one thing 'we' want him to do" is the one thing he wasn't that able to do.
