I'd as well use him as an H-back style receiver situationally as anything...he's certainly got enough speed to be useful there, he's definitely got both height and weight, and wouldn't be expected to be that much of a blocker other than, say, sealing a backside end for two counts till the end breaks contain.

having him in the backfield and motioning him across formation would be defensively recognizeable after, say, 3-4 times doing it, but lining him up flanked wouldn't be so much; we'd certainly have a mismatch or two doing so. You wouldn't use him but 5-7 snaps a game there, but he'd be a very nice 3rd and 3, first and goal option, and in a base offense, he does have enough ability in the open field to get a little extra out of a swing pass. A few snaps there, a few base O snaps, we'd be getting good situational use out of him. But I doubt they'd use him as such.

All good points Mags. There a certain players on this roster that can be plugged in situationally. I can't stress enought the use of Foster in the slot. It was effective last year. They split him out wide a few times, too. In fact, on our first touchdown drive against NE, he caught a stop fade (great catch) on 3rd and long that kept it going. And I will never forget DF providing a taxi service for GB's Earl Little. I want that play as a looping-avatar.

One thing (as a fan) that I noticed a bit last year was splitting Foster/Goings out wide in an empty set, and motioning him back into the backfield for a draw/dive/counter. At times, it proved to be effective, in that we would mix in the occasional PA off it.

I will be fine if Foster never materializes as a 1400-yard back, just so long as he can make game-changing contributions, week-in and week-out. Though they aren't twins or anything, he can be utilized in much the same way as Westbrook, while DW patiently carves things up in a more traditional manner.

I would just expect a little more humility from a borderline bust 2nd rd pick.

I've found that the "best" know that they're the best, and are secure about it. It's the obscure ones (Shelton) that can sneak up and surprise ya. I don't doubt that he was a douche. And he can keep being a douche, as long as he's healthy, playing hard, not killing his wife, driving sober, and helping them win games.

"Sure I know who you are... you're the latest in a series of second round busts drafted by the Carolina Panthers. I'll take "Disappointing Results" for $300 Alex."

I'd put the talk of FB to bed for now, he'll have to fail at RB before they move him and they haven't seen enough of him to make that move, IMO.

Ya don't say? Surprising. He was cool when I met him, but it wouldn't shock me either.

Evil Knievel said it as well, I don't think it's uncommon.
