I like this guy now, and would feel good about him being our long term kicker. Kasay could be released, IMHO.

Plus, I think Todd's attitude has rubbed off on him. Check out this pic:

He's been our offensive production for the last 11 quarters exactly. Brad Hoover caught a touchdown at the end of the first quarter three games back.

Shayne is the shit, no doubt. I posted that pic on another board, got some cool stories from some Hokie fans.

Evidently it's a Virginia thing, Shayne goes way back with both Barbers - all the way back to a high school rivalry. Then there is the Virginia - Va Tech rivalry with Ronde.

He needs to put the choke hold on some non-Virginia ST guys now.

Glad I was on the Graham bandwagon after the GB game. He kicks ass.

He's hit some tough ones since then - which shows the GB think didn't get in his head.

    I like him.

We he makes a 45 yarder with 2 sec left and the panthers down by one or 2 then I'm sold. Until then he's a good kicker when it doesn't really count.

I'm with you, VOR. Not that I don't think he can't do it in the clutch. I love the kid's attitude. He said front and center on Panthers.com he wants a game-winner to atone for his mistake at Lambeau.

But I want some insurance before we pull the trigger on Kasay, even though I think regardless of what we do with Graham, John's days as a Panther are numbered.

i agree on the clutch kick, once he makes one of those i'm sold. i'll admit i was one of the ones who wanted to see him go after gb, that is before i heard the whole story. since then he's made some pretty good ones and i'll say i'm glad we've kept him around.

Yeah, me too Matt. Since he made the first FG or two in the Arizona game, he's been developing into a quiet asset for us. I guess for a kicker that's a good thing.

I'm not even certain we should toss him away if his range isn't in the high 40's to low 50's either. Seems to me like Scotty O could train Sauerbrun to aim that Howitzer of a leg he's got for the long FG tries and leave the short to midrange stuff for Shayne.

Kasay is injury prone and if we keep him we'll be in the same boat next year, an injured kicker after pre-season or the 1st or 2nd game. We should have never gotten rid of Nedney, but I'd rather keep Graham than Kasay. He was great before he got injured the first time, been questionable since.

Hindsight's a bear, isn't it? I remember some were thinking that, but at the time it seemed almost sacrelige to cut Kasay. If we only knew then what we know now...
