no doubt, barry's #'s are more than deserving of nomination, but they will base the decision of of his career accomplishments this season (#3 hr leader, hits his 700th), and that is not right at all. base it on the season at hand, the stats for that season, and not how those stats affect your career stats or accomplishments. its wrong.

when someone changes the game like he does, that makes him the most valuable. You're right though, some of it is based on his career, but who said baseball and the way they do things was the right way? IE Drug testing.

This season - Bonds is leading the league in batting average, walks and intentional walks. 107 intentional walks total walks well over 200 is an obscene number. All these walks and his hitting has pushed his OBP to a ridiculous .608 which is 142 points ahead of second place Helton and 217 points ahead of Beltre. And with all those walks his at bats are about 200 fewer than Beltre but he is only 4 homers behind him, 17 RBIs behind and 5 extra base hits behind.

and he has a ridiculous slugging % of .826. Beltre and Pujols have both had great years but so has Bonds. He's like Michael Jordan right now. No matter how good a year a player has it probably won't be good enough to beat him out for an MVP. If anybody should get it besides Bonds it would be Pujols just because his team is so far out in front of everybody else.

like i said, his #'s are well worthy of being one of the frontrunners.

    i'll take beltres 47hr, .341, 117rbi tho.

pujols in 3rd because he is surrounded by all-stars. beltre nor bonds have anyone else in the lineup that pitchers fear.

i'm curious, why do you say pujols if not bonds. his #'s are lower than beltre's across the board. why would you award him for playing on a better team?

yeah but Bonds can earn the MVP on this years numbers alone - I don't think he is getting any career acheivement award here. And Bonds numbers are more than comparable to Beltre's considering 200 less ABs.

And yeah I think Pujols numbers and Beltres numbers are so close that you got to give it to the player who is leading his team to a probable world series ring - not folding down the stretch.

Beltre has one more RBI and 3 more homers. 15 points in the batting average which only amounts to 9 more hits. Pujols has a much high OBP and better slugging numbers too.

My votes would go Bonds, Pujols, Beltre.
