    a guy i work with is in his early 30s and is overwight. he's about 5-foot-9, 270ish.

    anyway, his food choices are very limited.

    he eats every desert offered (finished off the last third of a pan of brownies by himself the other night). he will NOT eat any fruits or vegetables ("the closes i get to fruit is fruit juice.") he drinks nothing but sodas, so far as i can tell.

    he eats:

    * chicken nuggets -- 20 at a time from mcdonalds.

    * hamburgers and french fries.

    * spaghetti and meatballs.

    * lots of pizza. he ate a whole large pepperoni one night.

    * every night, he gets four reccees peanut butter cups out of the vending machine. twice.

    my question is, when will this catch up with him? i can't find anything on the web about what a total lack of fruits and veggies does to your diet.

    i bet it hurts when he shits. i say he goes in for the quadruple by the time he is 36, if he doesn't keel over before.

    His diet sounds like mine, except the desserts. I never eat desserts. I hardly eat any kind of vegetables other than potatoes, and my once a month salad. I don't like any kind of beans except baked and green. I don't eat a lot of fast food, but most of the stuff I eat isn't good for me. I think the thing that helps me is at least I work out several times a week (no, not 12 oz curls) I eat some fruit, but usually only a banana or apple for breakfast. Most of my diet is meat and pasta.

    I'm not sure Larry. Sounds like it's already caught up to him if he's 5'9 and 270. I'm about 8 inches taller and only weigh 220.

    Yeah. If you don't eat a lot of veggies it screws up your immune system starting in late 30's and leaves you pretty screwed up in your 40's. Honestly if you eat like raw organ meats it prevents a lot of that but causes cancer. Carbs are good if you're active but not if you're a lump, the turn to fat an screw up your pancreas over time. Farmers and Construction workers need a lot of carbs as do warehouse workers but office types need a mineral and vitamin heavy diet and roughly an amount of protien in grams a day equal to the desired body weight in pounds that you wish to maintain. Don't go by the way I look I couldn't attain muscle tone if my life depended on it now.

    This guy needs a Low Carb diet, before he can't get out the house. Get him Dr Atkins or something. And he should be taking a multivitamin, like most people.

    I have a friend who has an even worse diet. He is not overweight and goes to the gym. I believe that he is setting himself up for cancer with the lack of vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, etc. which come from a healthy diet that includes fruits and vegetables.

    I would challenge the person you work with to find any information that proves his diet is not risky.

    I tried finding information on sites like WebMD.com, but nothing that specifically addresses this situation.

    Naw if he eats the right cereal he can stave off scurvy. There is so much shit added to foods now a days you can eat wrong and still get the proper nutritients.

    To answer your question Larry I'd say it will catch him in 5-10 years when he keels over from his first heart attack.
