I'm not believing ANY sports news from ANY source today. If the talk is still circulating tomorrow, I might bite.

    Report: Pack's Sendek
    offered Arizona St. job

North Carolina State coach Herb SendekN.C. State coach Herb Sendek became the talk of the Final Four on Saturday as CBS reported that he has been offered the Arizona State head coaching job.

N.C. State sports information director Annabelle Vaughan said she could not confirm that Sendek has been offered the job.

A source said Sendek was in Raleigh on Saturday afternoon, but he was unavailable for comment. Efforts to reach N.C. State athletics director Lee Fowler were unsuccessful.

Arizona State athletics director Lisa Love announced March 10 that Rob Evans would not return for a ninth season as coach. She said that day that having West Coast contacts would be “assistive” for a potential new coach, but wouldn’t be a sole criterion.

Sendek, 43, is from Pittsburgh and has never worked west of the Mississippi River.

The Arizona Daily Republic reported on its web site Saturday that Sendek met with Love within the last few days at an undisclosed location.

Sendek is 191-132 in 10 years with the Wolfpack with five NCAA tournament appearances in the last five years. But he has failed to take N.C. State past the regional semifinals in all five seasons, and has upset some N.C. State fans with his losing record against local rivals North Carolina and Duke.

The Wolfpack is 0-6 against North Carolina since Roy Williams began coaching the Tar Heels three years ago. N.C. State also is 3-21 against Duke during Sendek’s tenure.

Lee Fowler's an idiot if he doesn't call Gregg Marshall at Winthrop.
