I'll help you get your argument started. Cable has gone up $20 ($5 at a time) in the last 4 months.

    My concerns:

    - I'm locked in a 2 year contract. (I'm not sure I like that with the economy struggling.)

    - I watch 3 shows in CW46 and I like it better in HD. Problem is no CW46 in HD on Direct. Only standard. I know I can get an OTA antenna, but I've never set that whole deal up. So I'm not sure I know how. Would an installer help me purchase what I need and do it when I got Direct installed?

    - I can't tell if I have a clear shot to the southern sky. How bad would my picture suffer with a handful of trees in the way? There are no leaves on them now, but spring is coming. As few as there are I can guarantee it will pick up the signal now, but in 2 months there may be an issue. The bigger problem is they're my neighbors trees so no way to cut them.

-I'm not really sure what all channel packages would be best for me. I like watching TV, and I like having a ton of options. I've considered the premier package, but its a little bit high dollar. Do I need all of these channels? What's the real difference between this and Choice Xtra with the sports package, the 3 free premiums, and extra HD channels?

Time Warner service totally blows. I've had so many arguments with them, I know the number by heart. I keep a running list of people I talk with.
    Problems I've had:

*Continued dropping of the internet (before we moved), up to 15 times a week for around 30 minutes or longer at a time. 7 techs later, they had 7 different answers and never fixed the problem.
*Overcharging for services and have to call to remind them I have 'this' package.
    * Channels above 65 won't work intermittently and they won't credit account as I call them every time it happens. They said we don't pay seperate for that and we're still getting 65 channels.
    * Same with Movies/Whatever on Demand- we don't pay seperate for it so they won't credit account.
    * Before we moved, I called to get an estimate for internet phone with them to see if a bundle package would save money. They estimated 164.00 before tax/month for cable, 2 phone lines and internet. I took it. The first bill was 274.00 (not including the hookup fees I had already paid). I had written each item out that we discussed and gone over it multiple times telling the girl I didn't want surprise charges, she assured me that my bill would be in the 164 range.

With all that said, I still have TW  because I just don't want to go through getting something else and I like having as many services at one place as I can to cut down on paying bills. If internet service could be had here that was comparable to TW, I would drop everything with them.

I think this was just a rant more than an argument for/against for you, but I feel so much better! :20:

TWC customer service does blow and most of the people we hire are retarded. The phone sales people lie to get a sale constantly. But, Brain, if you are in a PLG, your price shouldn't be going up. So, either they didn't put the 2 year contract on your account or you're confused about your bill. I can't handle the Charlotte market, otherwise I would tell you exactly what is going on. I would suggest going to a payment center (not a mall Kiosk) and asking about your bill.

As for equipment failure and not crediting, well, sorry the customer service sucks. I wish there was anything I could do about that but most people that are willing to work in a call center aren't the best and the brightest.

Since we're looking to save everywhere we can right now.....I'm actually considering changing from Direct (which to me is the lesser of all the evils) to TW to get the full bundle.....TV, phone and internet (which I already have thru TW). I spoke with an online rep via chat and got a price of ~$116 after taxes for all three for 12 months. It would save me about $50 a month overall. My biggest fear is the fighting with them every month to get them to honor that price for 12 months.

Honestly, if you get your account set up right, you should have no issues. 90% of the problems I see are people misunderstanding their bill or the account never being set up right.

Cable bundles are the way to go. You can't beat their Internet regardless of what the phone company will tell you. I have been very happy with the cable phone service too.

You'll be bound to a two-year contract w/DTV also. And, you might (probably)experience some of the same problems that Plu had. Don't worry about satellite connection unless your property is a completely covered canopy.

I'm switching to TW in June when the DTV contract is up simply because TW offers a couple of different channels in their (basically same) package. And I've had excellent service with RoadRunner Lite.
