    May's right knee injured

    RICK BONNELL

    Staff Writer

Charlotte Bobcats rookie Sean May has a right knee injury that will likely keep him out of action the next six weeks, the Observer has learned.

May was scheduled for surgery Tuesday afternoon to fix a cartilage injury. Recovery time will likely keep May out of action throughout training camp in Wilmington and preseason exhibition games.

The Bobcats drafted May, a star at North Carolina, No. 13 overall in June. He's expected to back up power forward Emeka Okafor and also get some minutes at center and small forward.

    The Bobcats open camp Oct.4.
