I got that from the O'Reilly Factor. According to that show, Kristie Alley kicked a drug habit through Scientology. They didn't go into detail.

I think this also has some relation to the metaphysics thread I posted a few days ago.. I would like to learn more about this too, but I still know that anytime people resort outside of The Bible or change meanings of the original, that it is wrong and I know that The Bible can and will back up all facts.

Well, I can honestly say that this thread has been enlightening in so many ways. Thank you all for your input. :)

Tim Tam~ Let me know what you think when you've finished with the book.

I checked out the links posted here last night. Enlightening & scary & creepy. :shudder:

    Curious enough to explore further.

I remember reading Dianetics once when I was in my early-mid teens. The only clear memory I have of the book was the theory that we absorb things that occur/are said around us, even when we are unconscious; & that misinterpretions or acceptance of certain things can cause major problems in our lives; & the discussion of some process of identifying & "clearing" those things. Sounded reasonable at the time; but I didn't absorb anything else from what I read, & I was a pretty fucked-up kid at the time.

I'd like to at least skim the book again & find out how I'd view it now.

so i finally finished Scientology: A New Slant on Life (i have been busy)...an interesting book. all philosophy. nothing revolutionary really just reframing things into a new way of thinking. probably worth a read if you are curious. chapters 5 and 21 i had to call the guy handling my case or whatever about because it gets a little awkwardly written but over all an entertaining read even if it isnt the most in depth book ever.

i am going to start Dianetics now. they have only sent me 2 pieces of mail thus far. the first was a questionairre on the service i recieved and the other was about possible dates to get audited.

Are you going to get audited? If you do, let us know what it's like....if you don't mind. :D

they only care about one answer on their personality test -- household income. my friend took it just for fun and they said he was in great shape. he didn't make very much money.
