Sauerbrun situation

Discussion in 'Carolina Panthers' started by CarolinaBlues, Dec 30, 2002.

  1. Todd Sauerbrun earned his dough yesterday. My hat's off to him for staying in the game after breaking his nose! I sure hope he and the team can come to terms without having to place the franchise tag on him. That would be a slap in the face to Todd. He deserves a hefty raise but he must be realistic and not be selfish.

Realistic and not selfish is key.

And - Graham did a fine job on kickoffs, which Sauerbrun sucks at.

    I hope he sticks.

Realistic and selfish may be key but he's got 2 Pro Bowl trips to negotiate with.

Im not putting either of these guys down. But why cant a team simply have a kicker.?Is it really that hard for someone who has been kicking all of their life to punt and place kick? If one was to be able to do this would they make double the salary? If one could do that and tackle could they make even more?

    I think Janikowski does both

Duval from Aubern does both, does he not?

Jankowski doesn't punt. Just kicks fgs and kickoff's. I believe there punter is a pro bowler Shane Lechler? They drafted him the same year as Janikowski I believe.

I like having Sauerbrun in there on kick-off coverage though. Not sure I want Red ending his career on a meaningless tackle in a meaningless game. Todds kicks are good enough, as long as they stay inbounds.
