Made the long trip up to the Queen City for a day of music, met some old friends, and the wife brought her friend.

Saw some countryfried female duo as we were waiting for the wife's friend at the Charlotte.com stage. Then I went to see the Acoustic Syndiacte. I convinced the wife and friend to come see the Disco Biscuts, the highlight performace for me. THe vocals didn't come out very well, and they were loud, but they were upbeat and danceable. They also had a DJ for this tour. Met some cools tour heads who follow the band around. They are like a spacey, techno band for hippies. The bass player absolutely rocks. I saw this band years ago at a Post Phish party, they've come along way. Got a light show and everything.

The wife's friend is a huge No Doubt fan, and they were very good. The wife actually likes Leftover Salmon, one of the few jam bands I've really gotten her to listen too. But we've seen them. Only annoying thing was Gwen's countless attepts to rowdy up the crowd with cheap pops. "Let me here you North Carolina, whoo-hoo!" They had an interesting bass sound, very energetic.

I enjoyed Acoustic Syndicate and stayed for a little of the disco biscuits. I liked sitting on the grass over there. I was going to try to find Bear and Captain Morgan, but I left Captain's cell phone number at home. Sister Hazel was OK, No Doubt was who I went to see.

I actually got all the way to the front right at the end of Sister Hazel, and would have been in a perfect position to take pictures of Gwen, and then I had to go take a freaking piss. Man that sucked you had to walk a mile to get back to the bathrooms by the time I pissed and walked back (didn't go down front after that) I had to piss again.

I need to think of some kind of invention that straps on my dick and has a rubber hose going down the inside of my pants leg and ending right at the bottom of my shoes so I can piss on the ground without unzipping or anybody noticing. Not drinking is the only other option and that is unacceptable.

Other than having to piss, the shows were pretty good.It sure seemed like there were more than 45,000 people in there (that was what they were saying they were letting in) though. I would have thought there were that many just at No Doubt.

Did they stomp the fence next to the main stage like last year? I work in that building and they had something like $15k worth of damage to the parking lot, landscaping, and a couple cars.

  4. Sister Hazel puts on a pretty good show for what they are. No Doubt was fun. I agree on the fake "Let's go North Carolina" crap from Gwen, but she did look good. I didn't have to piss, so stayed pretty close to the stage. Builder would have loved the drummer, huh?

Went back Sunday after softball and saw Pat McGee, Hootie and Kid Rock. Didn't think I'd care much for Kid Rock, but he put on a hell of a show. The strippers on stage were a nice touch. I wasn't close enough to tell for sure, but my buddy who wormed his way up there said one of 'em was Pamela. Silver, you would have loved it...women flashing boobies all over the place in the crowd.

Far less crowded than last year for Dylan.

I had a good time. Best band by far was STP. My favorite performance however was Jerry Cantrell. It felt weird hearing old Alice in Chains tunes. Awesome show though. Kid Rock was pretty good. I missed No Doubt completely. That was who I was going to see. But when STP opened with Pink Floyd I was hooked again. awesome show. Jethro Tull was different.
