    Animals ARE sentient. They are conscious. They perceive through their senses. They are capable of feeling pleasure & pain.

    I'm thinking that possibly you meant that they are not self-aware in a way that allows them to have moral sensibilities?

    I love animals & my pets in particular, but it does bother me greatly to see a cat of mine toying with prey before killing & eating it. I understand that that is part of nature, but DAYUM I hate that!

    As far as killing &/or sacrificing children: I don't think humans need any evil force behind them to cause anything like that. They're capable of being evil & twisted all by themselves, & unfortunately many are. And there are certainly worse things than death that people, including children, endure every day.
