Screw him, I get pissed when he gets cheered and other people boo Bonds. I hate them both equally for cheating and I could care less if Bonds is an ass. If he broke the record being the clean then I would cheer for him. I think it is such a double standard and Sosa is every bit as guilty (in the court of public opinion) as Bonds and it is just as obvious. 1 guy hits more than 60 homeruns in 80 years and then all of a sudden he goes from a toothpick to being jacked up and hits 60 3 times in a span of 5 years. That doesn't just happen. Too bad no one will care till he starts creeping up on Ruth before people start getting pissed. Sosa is a cheater and him not getting any flack after hitting 600 homers (which is a gigantic accomplishment) and gets away without the negative press clippings. I hear John Kruk saying who cares about whether he was on stuff and then antagonizes Bonds and even Giambi for being on it. It's such complete BS like this that pisses me off. Sheffield will hit 500 homers and he has been on more steroids than a horse and it won't be a big deal and that is a shame. Sosa should have stayed retired. At least Mark McGwire and Palmeiro had the sense to after they were seen for being cheaters. People have forgotten just how big of a deal hitting 600 and 500 homeruns truly is because everyone is so caught up with Bonds. 600 Homers will be the new 500 homerun club pretty soon. Griffey, Rodriguez and probably Manny join it before the end of their careers along with Andruw Jones (if he stops sucking) as well as Albert Pujols. At least I can always cheer for Griffey Jr. I think him hitting 600 without steroids is an accomplishment that will be shadowed by all the steroid users of today. Sosa will end up catching up to Ruth. He's only 38 and needs 115 homeruns. If he's close he'll probably play till he's 43 or 44 and pass Ruth and Mays which is complete horseshit. I need a beer.

Other than Griffey, I suspect that pretty much everyone else that you mentioned juiced up at some point in their career.

I'm kind of glad that Sosa came back and got 600. He seemed to me to be the only player that actually suffered any consequences for what he did. If nobody else is getting anything but dirty looks and nasty whispers, why should he be the fall guy?

You know, this criticism of him kinda bugs me.

It's a WAYYYYYY different animal to speak English pretty well and to be able to read a prepared statement well. In front of Congress. And national tv. With your reputation on the line. Hell, for all I know, the ************ might not even know how to read in Spanish.

So, yeah, I can see why Sammy had someone read that statement for him.

Rip him all you want for steroids.

Sosa is a joke and a cheater. He got caught with a corked bat and did steriods throughout his productive years.

Not to mention the fact that he has done nothing but hit home runs. What else has he done that is worthy of the hall of fame? During his most productive years (97, 98 &99) he lead the league in strikeouts. He was top five in outs made during those years and has never had a big hit in his life. He is a joke in the field on top of all that.

Hall of fame worthy...I think not.

Just so you know, there are a lot of people who actually knew Sammy and all the ones who have been willing to talk about it say that his act before Congress was a sham. He has a thick accent and mangles some grammar, but he has no problems understanding or reading English. According to them he hasn't used a translator in over a decade.

Skip Bayless covered Sosa in Chicago for years and says he speaks excellent english. He laughed at Sosa's testimony and called him a fraud.

I think it was Lupica who declared Sosa's "charity" a fraud. Apparently Sosa ran a Chicago "charitable" organization which was run by family members all earning six figure salaries for an organization that gave almost nothing back.

He makes Bonds look like a good guy.
