I really wish they'd try again with a better Cussler book and better casting.

Yeah, it's just ok. Fails to capture Cussler's style or the characters.

cussler has a laws suit going because he did not approve the script and in his contract he had final say over script, casting and director.

Interesting, I thought he approved all the actors? Thats what the DVD extra interviews say.

The main problem is casting Al Giordini. There simply isnt an established actor that comes anywhere close to playing the part. Maybe Joe Pesci, if you could roll him back 15 years in age and put him on a heavy 'roids diet. Then he'd have the mouth and the bod for the part.

Matt M. is ok as Pitt. Thank goodness Penelope Cruz's role is non-recurring, because in hindsight, Selma Hayek would have been much better (eye candy).

At least they nailed it with William H. Macy as Sandecker. He's pretty close to what I pictured. Dont care for the guyw ho plays Rudi much, he was just ok.

Hey William - if they did one with Hiriam Yaeger, who would you cast?

johnny depp with pony tail and skraggly beard.

cc did approve of the casting but they was way off on the rudi gun casting.

cc was pissed off about how breck isner(sp) embellished in areas that they did not have to.

had they left NUMA as the gov't agency and not painted pitt and giordino as treasure hunters it would have been a home run.

I felt like Williamj, it was entertaining and that is the reason I watch movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yes, I would have prefered Selma Hayek more :D P.C. has no tits. But for $3.99 on pay per view it was worth it.

It wasn't bad, but it was no Raiders of the Lost Ark. Pesonally I'd put it behind 'National Treasure', about at the same level as 'The Mummy'.
