    1. The ump should be fired. He possibly changed the entire outcome of that series. It was very possible LA goes up 2-0 going back to Anaheim. Say goodnight Chi town.

    2. The picture all the websites are showing is right before he makes the out motion. Watch the replay, he called AJ out, the catcher heard it, and AJ heard it (which is why he started to head for the dugout).

    3. I am not Angels fan by any stretch. If you can friggin see, you know that was one of the worst blown calls.

    4. AJ's play was no different than a receiver who has a ball hit the ground and then tries to claim it is a catch. It is an attempt at deceit which AJ got away with. There is nothing heads up about it, pretty damn low if you ask me.

    5. Assuming no ump steps in and gives you guys another win, enjoy this one.

For all of that, it's still not the worst blown call I've seen.

deceit? like a catcher trying to frame an obvious ball with his glove and give the ump an impression of a strike? what about a hard count on a qb snap? its all part of the game.

AJ, as a catcher, knows what he can get away with. It was a heads up play. He knew he hadn't been called out, saw an opportunity and took it. Should Josh Paul have tagged him? Yea, and that would have been a heads up play and end of the inning. but AJ's (and I'm not a fan of his) knew what he could do and did it and won.

    on to Anaheim

Let's see you talking about this if Paul puts a hard tag on every victim of a third strike to make damn sure that the ump sees it.

it doesnt take a hard tag to be an out... But it was close enough to put a tag on...

a tag is one thing. a hard tag? then we'll see drunken fools and their sons climb out of the box seats and we'll see what they mean by South Side Hitmen.

That is just dumb. pretty damn low? And hitters who intentionally hold their ground to get hit by a pitch are better? why are receivers viewed as low for trying to make a catch? It WAS a heads up play, because AJ put DOUBT into the mind of the ump. The ump did NOT ring the guy up...remember, he made that clearing motion with his right arm before he made the fist---he made the same motion once AJ reached base. To me, that was an indication he beleived it was a dropped 3rd strike (or a bounced in 3rd strike-whatever). You, me, and the entire world saw the replay of it not being a dropped 3rd.

The ump blew the call. Sox benefitted. And if you have been watching ESPN the past 48 hours, you have seen every badly blown call in baseball that they have video for.

    It happens.

Sox win in 6 (as I said before the series)

The ump rung him up. Baseball tonight showed his calls on all his other swinging 3rd strikes and the motion was exactly the same.

    I don't blame AJ though.

i missed BT...was the arm motion there before he went to the fist? if so, then i have no idea what that dude behind the plate was thinking.
