The bigger question is what will it be like after teams have seen him more than once or twice and gotten a good look at his stuff. I'm holding off on any opinion till then as to whether he was worth that much.

Playing in Japan is the equivalent to playing in Triple-A in the US, but the press is gonna wet its pants everytime he strikes someone out. It's gonna be the ultimate hypefest.

That's not exactly accurate...and even if it was, a guy dominating triple A ball like that would be getting and deserving the hype.

Remember, he was the MVP of the World Baseball Championships last year where he dominited the best hitters in the world.

His fastball is at 96 now with an unhittable change up. He will be tough

It's the truth. It might have gotten better over the last decade or so, but a lot of players that can't hack it in America go over to Japan and play. Bobby Valentine even said it's like minor league baseball in America. I agree he would be getting the deserved hype if he pitched as well as he did in the minor leagues. I'm hoping he comes in and flat out sucks so the Red Sox nation can shut the hell up (something that almost seems impossible)

The Red Sox fans will never shut up if that is what you are saying. I have to live with a guy from Cape Cod. Every summer is annoying.

Please, get a clue. The Japanese team won last year's world baseball classic and the roster was made up of Jap league players. Lots of big leaguers on the other teams.

There were big leaguers on the Japanese team as well. Japanese baseball is like triple A till they develop and then come to America to play in the majors and make more money. The Baseball World Classic and international competition is hardly an indicator anyway. We lost to freakin Canada. Canadians suck at baseball. We had a bunch of minor league Americans beat the Cuban team in the Olympics. Didn't the US lose to Mexico to? Mexico isn't even close to us in terms of baseball. One of the best players in Mexican baseball history is Vinny Castilla. Japanese baseball is good but it pales in comparison to Major League baseball which takes the best from the US, Canada, Domincan, Cuba (when they can escape), Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and all the other island countries as well as Korea, Taipei and Japan. It's not even a competition

No what I was saying is that if you are waiting for him to "flat out suck" you better be ready to be disappointed. He is the real deal.

BTW, you better not be a fucking yankee fan saying red sox fans "never shut up". Yankee fans and New Yorkers in general never shut the fuck up.
