Phil Niekro and Nolan Ryan are pretty fuckin experienced too. Would you want their geriatric ass in your lineup today, in 2006?

Your hall of fame pitching staff is going to fall to shit. Everybody cant be Clemens and be 76 years old and still flaming.

He has a good arm, but no, he's horrible defensively. He's a pretty odd but predictable player in that he strikes out or hits a home run in nearly half his at-bats. This is a very bizarre move for the Red Sox in my opinion, especially considering how important Arroyo was going to be if anyone in that brittle rotation went down (inevitable). My only guess is that something must be wrong with Nixon that they aren't talking about, but he's been ok in spring training thus far.

Nixon's a free agent after this year so maybe Pena is insurance in the event they lose Trot. Pena hasn't been too shabby against lefties so he will definitey put Nixon in a platoon role.

If I had my druthers and had to trade Arroyo, it would've been for a third baseman (if any are to be had). Lowell's looked like shit so far.

you're right, though: it is a strange trade considering the age and susceptibility to injury of the Sox staff. Here's hoping Jon Lester tears it up in Triple A.

Even David Wells commented after he saw Arroyo cleaning out his locker, "wrong guy".

Arroyo loved Boston, never complained about coming out of the pen or being an emergency starter, a rarity for a guy with his stuff.

Yeah, well I love Boston, I wouldn't complain if I came out of the pen and I am all about being an emergency starter but that doesn't mean I should be pitching in Boston. Get my drift?

Bronson wasn't geting it done and cares more about making albums and cheating on his wife than he does getting better. If Wells thinks it is a mistake, it must be the right move.
