True. Lowell and Trot would have to step up. Big time.

latest rumor going 'round the New England papers as the Sox shopping Renteria. (one scenario has a three-way trade with the Braves and Rays, with the Sox getting Julio Lugo from tampa)

I can't see it happening with the cash Renteria's making. sure hope he can earn at least half his salary in '06. 30 errors from a former gold glover? Guess the Sox are destined never to have a solid defense. Lowell will probably boot the ball all over the field this season.

I saw that today too. Lugo would solve your leadoff man problem, I guess - although I think he batted 2nd in TB. Of course, what will happen is that Renteria will go to ATL, hit .320 30 120 & make 2 errors all season. Man, not signing Eckstein (or even the OC) looks worser and worser every single freaking day.

I keep reading that they are intent on getting rid of Manny - which really just makes no fucking sense at all. Hell, by the time spring training rolls around, Manny will have forgotten he asked to be traded anyway.

rentiera to braves for 3B prospect Andy Marte, who is then shipped to Tampa with Kelly Shoppach and/or Bronson Arroyo for Julio Lugo and Aubrey Huff and/or Danys Baez. could happen today

I can live with that. With Mirabelli already gone for Mark Loretta, Shoppach's leaving assures they'll need to get a catcher for Wells.

Millar is officially history (no arbitration offered) and Olerud retired. So Huff could be an everyday first baseman. If they get Baez, the pen should be stout, but with Arroyo and Wells gone, Papelbon will be in the rotation.

saw where they tried to send Clement to Milwaukee for Lyle Overbay but the Brewers wanted the Sox to pick up a portion of his contract. Kinda glad it didn't happen. I'd like to see how Clement does a second time around, with a healthy (I hope) Schilling and Beckett ahead of him.

Of course, now the deal will probably fall through.

Clement will be fine. As long as he stops getting hit with balls through the box. Must have happened 10 times last year in the second half.

I need to revisit my lineup. Looks like it's gonna be way off.
