Can Lowell play left? You have to figure that Cameron will be part of any Manny deal. So it's pretty possible that the outfield could be Millar or Lowell in left, Cameron in center, & Trot in right. Which wouldn't suck so bad. Assuming that Millar & Lowell have anything left.

I wouldn't mind it too bad if thy got Beltran for Manny straight up, but that seems like a pretty stupid deal if you are trying to maintain contract flexibility.

I'd prefer that the keep Manny though. I am more and more convinced that having him behind Ortiz is essential.

interesting rumor buzz going on regarding Nomar. He's floating the notion out there that he'd be willing to move to second base.

Keep Damon only with a paycut. His arm is already a rag and he's approaching his mid-thirties in centerfield? See Bernie Williams.

    2006 squad

    C - Varitek 6
    1b - Youkolis 8
    2b - Grafinino 9
    SS - Renteria 2
    3B - Lowell 5
    LF - Ramierez 4
CF - God only knows 1
    RF - Trot 7
    DH - Ortiz 3

SP - Beckett, Clement, Wakefied, Arroyo, Papplebon

That's not so bad is it? Sure doesn't look like a 120 million dollar payroll though.

Looks pretty good. I'd rather have Schilling (a healthy, effective Schilling) in the rotation. I imagine Papelbon will spend another year in the pen as a long reliever and join the rotation in 2007, hopefully along with Lester. I thought Juan Pierre might be a good pickup, seeing as the marlins are giving players away, but it looks like the Yanks are gonna get him.

How could I have forgotten about Shilling :banginghe

I liked Pierre too, but I think we could do better. I was hoping that the Yanks picked up Bradley. I think he would have actually killed someone around June.

If they don't get Damon, I really have no idea what they'll do. My worry is that they will panic and give up too much for Torii Hunter. I wouldn't mind sending Wells back to SD for Roberts. And if they do trade Manny to Seattle, the idea of Ichiro sure doesn't suck too bad.
