The knock has always been that Rice didn't have the longevity, yet Sandy Koufax is in. Never thought Rice was a first ballot, but I'm glad the roid era made the voters take another look at his numbers.

Even before Raffy Palmeiro was busted, I checked out his career stats. Only finished in the top five of the MVP voting once, and that was a fourth place finish. Rice was top five six times, am I right?

The fact that it took Rice until his last try is pure lunacy.

Koufax had some of the best pitching seasons of all-time. Rice had a couple of great seasons, but nowhere near that level. I have no problem with him getting in, but it's no mystery why it took this long.

Rice was top five six times and top three three times (won in '78)

He was top five in batting average four times, in slugging five times, in run s four times, in RBIs 7 times, in homeruns five times.

If Orlando Cepeda is in the Hall, Rice has to be as well.

No. Sadly, neither are Juan Beniquez or Dick Pole

Five, then, if you want to quibble. The rest of his career was pretty ordinary.

Weren't he and Rice rookies the same year? He had a pretty decent career, didn't he?

that's about how many great seasons Koufax had. for the 12-year period between 75 and 86, Rice was arguably the best hitter in baseball. Between 77 and 79 (average 41/128/.320 per season) there is no argument.

I know you're just trying to be an argumentative troll, but c'mon, you're embarrassing yourself.
