You were whining about how you "'don't have a Schilling, Lowell, Manny, or a good Beckett," and you were wrong about Sabathia and Carmona being bad before facing the Sox last season.

I hate to break it to you, but the only person whining in this thread is you, Mr. "especially for fans who haven't sniffed the playoffs in over a decade."

That was a factual response as to how this situation of being down 3-1 is not anywhere close to last year's situation of being down 3-1.

And where did I mention anything about Sabathia or Carmona prior to the RS series? What were their ERAs against the Sox when the Sox where heading into games 5, 6, & 7?

For someone who spent read magnus the riot act for taking things out of context, you sure are spending a lot of time taking things out of context.

Look, if you don't want to hear about Red Sox baseball or how the last 3 games have sucked, maybe you show a little self control and stay out of the Red Sox thread.

Sure, because "This fucking sucks" wasn't whining. Complaining - incorrectly I might add - that this series is "not even remotely close to the same situation" as being down to Cleveland 3-1 last year sure wasn't whining either. Right.
I like how your response to being proven wrong is to stick your fingers in your ears and just keep repeating the statement that was disproven, as if ignoring the facts will make them go away. The reality is that Sabathia and Carmona had pitched better during the 2007 season than anyone Tampa Bay has going for them now, which is why a lot of the people thought the series was over. And for all your whining about Manny & Schilling not being with the team anymore, Bay & Lester (Lester was not a starter in the '07 ALCS) have been more than adequate replacements.
For the season including the playoffs up to that point, Sabathia had an ERA of 3.48 and Carmona had an ERA of 3.08. If you want to be a dishonest prick and pretend that Sabathia and Carmona were garbage, I understand because that's who you are. When you feel corner, you'll lie, no matter how ridiculous the lie is. But Sabathia and Carmona were more daunting starting pitchers than Kazmir, Shields, and Garza. That's not to say that Kazmir, Shields, and Garza aren't damn fine pitchers because they are, but none of them have had a season in 2008 to equal what Sabathia and Carmona did in 2007.
Actually I did want to hear about Red Sox baseball, not whining from some pissy little ingrate who gives up whenever his team has a bad stretch. I expected "fans" like you to talk about how you've come back from 3-1 deficits before and the Sox can do it again. Instead I saw "this fucking sucks. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!" It was pathetic, and it's what I would have expected from a Boston fan before 2004, but not since then.

Your response was "this fucking sucks," and that is whining, but you post that because you can't come up with an actual rebuttal. Like I said, if you were a real fan instead of some spoiled, whiny brat, then you would have been talking about how you've come back from 3-1 deficits before. I understand why you're embarrassed about that and defensive about me pointing out what a bitch you are, but none of that's my fault, it's yours.

No, it's not. It's a statement of fact. Maybe you can go back to falsifying quotes now.

"This fucking sucks" is not a statement of fact, you retard. It's an opinion, and one that conveys whining. Here's a statement of fact: last year the Boston Red Sox were down 3-1 in the ALCS to a team that had the Cy Young Winner and the guy who finished fourth in Cy Young voting. Here's another statement of fact: in 2004 the Boston Red Sox were down 3-0 in the ALCS to the New York Yankees.
I don't think anyone was confused about whether or not you actually posted "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!," and you did say "This fucking sucks." You're trying to distract from the fact that I proved you wrong about the comparison between this ALCS and the one last year, as well as the fact that you were whining about being down 3-1. This is what you do. When you're getting your ass handed to you in an argument, you lie and try to distract from your mistakes.

How about instead of that and instead of whining about how much this situation "sucks," you act like a fan with some balls and start talking about how the Red Sox came back last year and what they need to accomplish this year to do it again?

Yep. And that 19-8 game really sucked.

Yet you felt compelled to add it - probably because you had tied your wagon to saying I was whining and that bolstered your case. What's so funny is your hypocrisy

    Yep.

You really do have to be the most self congraulatory without justification ************ ever.

Yes, because I was mocking you. It irritated me that you of all people would bitch and whine when you've been in this same situation last year and should know better than anyone that the series isn't over.
I haven't been at all hypocritical, but again, you need to distract from the fact that you were wrong. It's what you do every time someone proves you wrong. You lack the integrity to man up and admit your mistake, and instead you lie or distract to try and get out of the situation.

Now how about you act like a fan instead of a whining bitch and talk about how you think the Red Sox can stage a repeat of last season and come back in the ALCS? For instance, what about the decision to use Kazmir in Game 5? Through four starts against Boston this year, he's posted an ERA of 9, probably because he's wild and depends on hitters to chase pitches out of the zone while the Red Sox are generally more disciplined than that. Personally I still like Maddon's decision because I think you take your best shot at home in Game 6, but moving Kazmir up does give Boston a good shot of winning Game 5. Then if the Red Sox do get past him and can pull out a victory against Shields, would you bet money on Lester or Garza in Game 7? Lester, right? Me too. That kind of thinking is why I would expect a Boston fan to be looking forward, not whining like the series is over.

You added it because it supported your opinion that I was whining and because it's patently obvious to anyone that the situation between last year and this year is not even remotely the same.

I never said any such thing - of course, you know that. But when you lose the guy who just had the best extended post season in history, you would expect tha tmost rational people would have an easy time admiting it might have an effect on a team. You are just afraid to actually admit you made a mistake - which is typical of you.

Of course you aren't a hyocrite. Nothing you said to magnus would remotely apply here.....

I like Maddon's decision because if Kazmir doesn't have it early or get's touched up, your bullpen is obviously well rested and Shields has been money at home and crap on the road. Plus, lefties are a benefit in Fenway.

If the Rays keep hitting like they are though, they're gonna be tough to beat. Especially if Ortiz and Ellsbury can't get their hits. Papi is the one that really concerns me - because he has been telling people that his wrist just doesn't feel right, and he has been a shell of himself all year.
