Manny is fun to watch. Very entertaining. Never sure what he may do next. And he's one h&ll of a talented hitter....

I understand that you don't want to fire up the Red Sox, but someone ought to drill that idiot right in the back.

I agree. I'll defend the pose after the 3 run shot in the DLS, but this crap has to stop.

I once drilled a guy in the back just for hitting on a teammate's girlfriend. :0:

I reserve the right to reassess.

Beckett is awesome, no question, but you have Julio Lugo at shortstop while Hanley Ramirez followed up his incredible rookie season with this:

    .332, 125 runs, 29 hrs, 81 rbi, 51 sbs, .386 OBP, .562 SLG%

I can't say that I saw that coming, though. I thought Ramirez would be one of those toolsy guys who had flashes of brilliance but never really put it together.

Oh, there is no doubt that I would prefer to have Hanley now, but I also agree with your thoughts on what he would turn out to be. But if it boils down to either Beckett or Ramirez, I'd have to take Josh.

That's insanity, in my view. Beckett is very impressive, but Boston has a number of talented starters and the ability to buy more. Shortstops who have done what Hanley Ramirez did the last two seasons just do not become available on the open market. There's really no question that he's more valuable to a team than Beckett (Ramirez earned 29 win shares this season, Beckett had 19).

I'll have to think about that one for a while.

I'm not overly familiar with win shares/bill james and th like, but are pitchers generally that much lower than position players?

Is there a site where you can look up win shares?
