Bullpen shaky again last night. I can’t figure Embree out. His velocity seems to be fine but guys are just freaking teeing off on him. He never had a ton of movement on his fastball anyway, so maybe he’s tipping his pitches or something. But they need him to be right. Foulke looks to have his velocity up towards 90 again and is throwing his fastball a good bit again – he also seems to have that pause at the top of his delivery again, which prevents guys from being able to time him to the plate. Cleveland’s got a good young team though and I’m surprised that the Sox got to Sabathia like they did – he’s a quality pitcher. Looks like Renteria & Manny are heating up a little too, which is obviously a plus.

Damon has just been plain solid all year. He’s making it real hard for them not to pay him.

The Sox & O's are 4-4 head to head this year, Einstein.

fuck embree. for every five appearances, he's effective once. foulke's just leaving too many damned pitches up in the zone and out over the plate. His location plain sucks. I guess they'll try to get a setup guy before the trade deadline, but damned if it doesn't look like the Sox will have to score at least five or six runs every night out. they're capable, but I'd hate to have to count on it. pen's ERA is up over 5, and that's with Timlin pitching mostly lights out and Myers performing better than average. I dunno. If Schilling comes back and is on his game, someone -- Arroyo or Wakefield -- is gonna move to the pen. that should help.

Bret Myers' reaction to Manny's slam was priceless. You can clearly see he said "how the fuck did that get out?!?"
