So please enlighten us, UNCez...did we acquire you from the Charlotte.com boards? Did you have a poster name there?

Looking forward to any "facts" you could provide - your discussions have had the depth (and substance) of a mud puddle. Even the Heel fans don't like you...

With comments like 'dumbass' and 'your mama', I didn't think you guys were looking for intelligent debate. If I want intelligent debate, I'll do it with someone that knows about basketball, not people who's idea of planning for a game means crossing their fingers.

    I'll referee this one ----

First you called people "pansies" then you said they had "weaker minds". You didn't say they had weaker minds than what but it's a good assumption that you meant it in a bad way.

Then the word "dumbass" was throwed at you and quickly followed by a comment about your mammy. Being called a 'dumbass' by Sly is probably the easiest way out for you. He has more names for later in the battle. Now, whether PanthersReturn actually was with your mammy has not been proved. I would have to see pics oif that first before I could score that one.

    Score to this point :

UncOverDukeEasy---3 points--based on firing the first shot

Sly---2 points--cause "dumbass" is just such a good word when you blindside someone with it

Panthers--a possible 12 points if pics are included.

Putt, I had to use the wide-angle lens on UNCEZ's mama...that girl so big you cut her she bleed gravy. Just rolled her in the flour and went looking for the...

Let's just say the pix should never appear in the Cafe...unless the objective was to revisit lunch.

Oh please EZ - dispense upon us your veritable plethora of hoops wisdom. In a previous thread you brought up the name Jeremy Hyatt, and didn't expect anyone to remember that face?

My prep for Carowhina - double McCants, take the ball out of his hands. Without May, the Heels are very beatable. State needs to be ready to attack the pressure.

    LOL
A Dookie Referee... No wonder I'm getting all the bad calls.....

As for Panther's Prep. You think you're the first to say 'double McCants'? I'd love for State to double McCants. I think the game against Clemson proves we can play (and win) if McCants is out of the game, so doubling him makes it even easier on us. Manuel has shown that he's a very capable slasher, Melvin Scott can rain the 3's, and of course Raymond Felton can beat anyone in the game one-on-one. Put two people on McCants, PLEASE!!
Beatable without May is also a very obvious statement. We counter the loss of May with 'center by committee' in using Sanders, Grant, and Williams on occassion. We're definitely not the same team without him, but I think we've held our own down low. Grant may be slow, but he clogs up the lane so much, everyone is scared to drive on him. (Would you want to get fouled by that guy?)

Against State, I think it's pretty simple. They're athletic and long. They play good defense and can shoot the three on certain nights. Against Duke, that's the best they've shot the 3 all year. I'd do either a box and one on Hodge (With Manuel) or triangle and 2 on Hodge and Melvin, just to have someone to keep him off the boards. I don't think that kind of shooting can continue, but if they do, we can switch to a 3-2 match-up zone, and rely on State ALSO having no inside game. Williams/Grant/Noel/Sanders can handle State's inside people just fine. In fact, I'd tell the guys not to even guard the 3 in the beginning, to make them start shooting it. I think State's driving ability is more dangerous than they're 3's.

Anyway, how do you think State will stop Williams on the inside? Melvin? Ok you put Melvin on Williams, but who guards Sanders or Noel? And, who stops Manuel? State definitely has no defensive stopper like UNC does.

All in all, I think State and UNC (without May) match up the best of any two teams in the ACC this year. It'll be a good game, but if we stick to the fundamentals (controlling the boards, keep turnover's low, take smart shots) our talent should outshine State on Sunday.

C'mon EZ, on McCants, State has the D to make it work. He needs to be hit a few times, but definitely don't let him have the ball & create.

I think State will be a better opponent than Clemson, too. The Tigers have inside "width" that State doesn't have, but the Pack is athletic.

I'd put Powell on Williams. Collins is a different player, too. Can take people outside with him. Maybe Herb will go "big" against the Heels?

    Interesting...

With proper spacing and ball movement, 3 people can't guard 4. I'd like to see them try though.

As far as Clemson being bigger inside, yes you're right. That's what kept them in the game. Offensive rebounds killed us. State doesn't have any kind of inside presence like that though, so it'll be a battle of who can better execute their offense against a tough Defense. Collins? You mean the Sophomore Center that plays a rigorous 8 minutes a game? Not a concern from my point of view.

Should be a good game, though. I think these teams (without May, remember) match up so well that it's going to take something outside of the players to be the difference. Specifically home court advantage and the fans. The Pack fans are going to be ready to go in this one after smashing Dook. I can't wait to see how the young Heels respond to such a hostile environment. Should be good preparation for going to Cameron.
