if your point is that we should take an offensive lineman over drastically reaching for a skill position player, I still disagree. The lineman is a reach as well, and not even a good value. But of the possible reaches, I'd much rather go with a skill position player - Woods, Witten, a back - or a corner than go lineman. It's not that right tackle isn't a need - but only a few RTs have been picked high in the last number of years and they were all very dominant linemen. We're just dealing with a couple of prospects and each 'scout' is ranking one high because eventually one will distinguish and get taken mid-first.

Your Ute boy isn't the consensus top lineman. None of them are rated top ten in my opinion, and I'd be very hard pressed to put any of them in the top 20 - my top lineman is Harris. And he's roughly 20th.

You can take the other Johnson, perhaps Lloyd, McGahee if he comes out, Manning if he comes out.

Choices remain, and for value, I'd take Wilfolk first. Gross isn't that big. Strong, but not real athletic. I like the value Foster (GA tackle) brings, good feet, and big. Needs to get a bit stronger. And he can be had one round later. Or Ben Johnson.

if Arizona beats St. Louis we move up a draft slot... and that IS a possible win for them

Can't see Seattle taking anything but a defensive player, T.

LJ is looking better every minute. I hope he's there when we pick. Especially if McGahee's gone.

If not Andre Johnson would work. I still think he will be there regardless at our pick.

Otherwise - it might be Ragone after all. I know there is a lot of negativity about Ragone but he's talented and a real leader. He could really help us. If there isn't a top RB available and the top WRs aren't there - go with Ragone and look for WR in 2 or 3. There is depth at WR in this draft. Pray for Foster and maybe sign Orlandis Gary. Lots of ways to go but Ragone isn't a loss IMO. He would upgrade QB position a great deal. I wouldn't mind going to war with the guy.

BTW: We need to start PRAYING that Eli Manning come out. We may be left with NO offensive players worth taking if we beat Chicago! We need him to come out just for Ragone to SLIP to us!

LJ is back out of range thanks to the loss yesterday and the loss in two weeks. Add next week and we could be in good shape, but chances are we'll take the Bears just to spite good drafting.
At any rate we could do just as well with Suggs in the 2nd.

Suggs ACL injury scares me a bit. I'm not sure we want to waste another 2nd on a risky RB with knee injury history. Outside of that, Suggs is intriging and a great person and I love his toughness. He's a quick hitter and doesn't waste time in the backfield and has better speed than people think too. He would certainly be the best healthy back we would have ATP. He has good hands and forget any size limitations - he runs tougher than a lot of backs much bigger. If not for that injury he would be a great 2nd round target, so he might be worth the risk - although given Foster - he is probably an even bigger risk here.

As long as his speed is up, and his mobility, and of course his knee is scrutinized, I have no reason to doubt his knee. Foster had multiple injuries.

There are plenty of good backs who can run inside who won't cost a high #1.

  9. I'd wait till after the bowl games to get their real opinion...they say what they say now to not draw a distraction to their teams...I remember David Boston announcing he was staying only to announce he was going after his bowl game.

McGahee would be a top 3 pick...Detroit would take him over Rogers...next year Clarett will come out and he would have to compete with him as the draft's top back.

Williams will change his mind too...one injury isn't worth and 8 million dollar signing bonus...some agent will get a hold of him and tell him how stupid he is being.

true, especially considering that Williams has found to be hurt now and again.
Then again if he's been told he's slipping, that could be why he's looking to stay.
Interesting point about Clarett. And McGahee doesn't have anything else to prove, really.
