While I know Donovan is a hall of fame coach already, I'm not sure how I feel about him. 3 final fours and two titles is impressive. He's shown he can do it at a school where no one thought it could be done. But, he's only been to the NIT since.

I think if he can win another title, he has to be in the discussion of greatest coaches of all time. I mean, talk about making something out of nothing.

Howland is another guy like Williams. He succeeds, but he always has the players. He should succeed. You could probably say the same about Calimari, but the fact that he can get the players to come to UMass and Mempiss speaks volumes. There is no doubt that he is one of the top 3 coaches in the game right now. He may falter at UK (God, do I hope he falls flat on his face), but he will likely win a couple of titles there.

You are going to work the facts to make Williams the best coach around. That's your prerogative.

 

Don't think anybody has said, or certainly know I haven't said Williams is the best coach around. He is one of the best coaches though, and there are a lot of factors that make a great coach, some of those things certain coaches are better than others at plain and simple.

If Roy is the best coach around, he would've won a title at Kansas. He didn't. He's a great recruiter, but a trained monkey would've coached the tarheels to a title this year.

You don't have to convince me, I don't think Roy is anything special. I don't even think he's that great of a recruiter. I mean, he more just has to not screw it up than anything else. I think he's a good coach and a good recruiter in a great position.

And I am sure you do the same. Most all people do this based on their like or dislike for something. Hitler is a prime example of that.

 

Didn't really imply it - that's how you took it. I posted 14 or so names of coaches and what they've done in the last 10 years in the NCAA tournament. It just happened that Roy was at the top of it.

Edit: I don't really care what he did before he got to Carolina, though, if you want to be honest about it.
