    I never said that, dumbass.

What Kobe did has absolutely no impact on the intergity of the GAMES themselves. It certainly has an impact on the way people view athletes in geral, him specifically, and the NBA. There is a BIG difference betwen the 2.

Bart was saying the other day that off field charchter, in baseball rather than football, is important. For example, under baseballs guidlines, LT would not have been able to get into the Football HOF.

After Pete was banned, for instance, they then made the rule that banned players were not eligible. I wish to God they had not done that, cause though he should never be able to hold a position in baseball IMO. He still gambles, for christ sake.

However, there has been no effort to remove Ty Cobb, who killed someone in cold blood.

    I'm sorry I missed this.

This doesn't seem to be working for Pete. The signals were to come clean, and we can work something out to get you into baseball (although I think there was more to it, like stop gambling, get that what he was doing was actually bad). But timing, and the fact that he seems to be pumping his book more than anything else, is hurting his PR. And without the good public relations, what does the Brewers Owner, er, I mean the Commissioner have to gain?

He wants to manage. He still gambles. Legally, he says. Whatever. I don't think he gets, like many on here, that what he did was that bad. So he bet on baseball, on the Reds. Wasn't to lose. Druggies get chance after chance. He keeps saying this in the book.

I don't think its going to work out. Cause that's not how baseball see it, and they never will. Gambling on baseball is the cardinal sin, Black Sox ensured that. From baseball's perspective, like it or not, it is worse than killing someone.

I think it was bad, but I don't think it was that bad either. Like you, I think other players have done things that damaged the integrity of the game as well. Serious drug users, and things like Sosa using a corked bat if indeed it was intentional.

You'd think he'd at least have the sense to stop gambling. Not even a fucking lotto ticket.

How in the world can you say that has no impact on the games themselves? Kobe misses a game because he is in court? Well guess what he just impacted a game he missed. All of Kobe's teammates after answer media questions about Kobe, or put up with Kobe missing practice or however else if would affect the team. No, you are right that has nothing to do with impacting anything in the game.

Show me how Kobe profited. Or could have profited.

When VP talks (and I talk) about impacting the game, he's talking about whether or not the game itself is on the "up-and-up" - whether it's an honest competition. Kobe missing the game has an impact, but the competition within the game he misses is still honest.

Like I have said in the past, if you are talking just about the money/profit then yes this is as bad as it can get. Also if you mean integrity for just this one area "gambling" and doing wrong, then yes this is bad.

But maybe we aren't all talking about Baseball or Sports integrity overall. As a whole is what I have been talking about, what Kobe(if convicted), Cobb, Strawberry and the list keeps on going is far worse with the damage it has done to these sports. Their actions can affect the outcome or score of game just as much as what Rose did much like a team that has a lot of injuries in one year, but injuries are part of the game where all these other things aren't.
