Anyone catch this last night? WOW, every song was done great and I personaly really like all of those songs.

I am not saying every performer would make it with INXS, but they all did a fantastic job. Song list was:
You can't always get what you want (Rolling Stones)
    Suspicious Minds (Elvis)
Wish you were here (Pink Floyd)
    Imagine (John Lenon)
Live and Let Die (Sir Paul McCartney)
    Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)

I thought this was the best night for songs and performances. They had a string section a horn sectioin and a choir along with the usual house band which has week in and week out done a great job with the songs. If are missing this show because it is a reality show, you are missing some quality interpritations of some of the best songs ever written.

Watch every show lately, I had my doubts initially but I am pleasantly surprised. And the boots that Brooke Burke were wearing were pleasant to look at also. :woohoo:

I've been watching it regularly and here are some notes...

    * Brooke Burke seems somewhat disinterested in the whole thing, well at least she did until this week. She's still hot as hell though! :satana:

    * Dave Navarro is the Rock Star INXS version of Paula Abdul. He rarely says anything negative and if he does, it's always sugar coated. I do like how he interacts with the singers though, he does really seem to care and seems like a hell of a guy.

    * I never really noticed anyone else in INXS except Michael Hutchins. The dude with the wierd mustache annoys the hell out of me...seems queer. The rest of those guys are pretty cool. Especially the chubby guy, he's always pretty fair in his assessment of the performances.

*The level of respect from this group of very talented singers is refreshing, especially considering it is a competition.

    * JD sounds alot like Hutchins. Although he is a little full of himself while the others seem to have formed a bond seperate from him. He has done a nice job of rearrainging songs to fit him and that has been the one thing that has kept him around. I think I have only seen one of his performances that I wasn't real impressed with...don't remember what it was though.

    * Marty looks a little like Hutchins and has proven to have a similar sound/range. If that is what the band is looking for, I suspect he might be one of the finalist. Although, I get the feeling they are looking for someone more unique. He has performed well outside of his comfort zone, his arraingment of "Hit me Baby" had a Manson feel to it. When he got that song, I thought he was toast, but he owned it! When he did "Wish You Were Here" I noticed some of the band members were in tears.

    * I thought Ty was wrong for INXS some time ago, but the guy might be the most successful of the lot when all is said and done. He'd be a novelty act in the rock genre, but as a soul singer...he'd bank some serious cash.

    * I particularly like Jordis, she's kind of the type that could appeal to a larger group. Her look is hard, her voice is beautiful and she has decent range. She kind of has a Pink-like vibe, but a darker edge. When she did "Imagine" I welled up! Her dad cracked me the fuck up too!
She's been my favorite from day one, but I don't know if I see her as a member of INXS. I am positive well hear something from her in the near future.

    * Suzie has come on strong the last few performances. I think she just decided to have fun with it and be herself and that might be the difference maker for her. Being a woman, she is nothing like Hutchins in many respects, yet she has the range to capture the sound he produced. I'd pick her as the overall favorite at this point...she's "girl next door" hot.

    * Mig should have been gone this week instead of Ty, but he is more of a rocker. He neither has the range nor the voice to cover the INXS catalog...but he is an Aussie.

    * Each of the remaining people coming into tonight have OBVIOUS star power. We'll be hearing from each of them and I suspect with a great level of success.

Good breakdown. Ty was one of my favs, so I was a bit dissapointed to see him go, but not overly surprised. Not sure he would have worked.

Marty strikes me as someone willing to compramise his passion in order to land the gig, but I suspect he is more into System of a Down type of material than INXS.

Mig, well, he's an Aussie and he has picked his songs carefully for the most part. My wife likes him, but he is just ok.

I really don't like JD and I don't think the dude with the stupid mustache does either judging from his comment about doing the INXS song well. That said, for the most part he has done the right things.

That leaves the girls. I have a hard time believing either lady has a fare shot. I am sure the group is sincere in having them in the remaining bunch, but I just can't wrap my mind around tuning into a radio station and jamming to one of them belting out a INXS song. OTOH I do dig Jordis, with exception of the most horid of covers on Dream On. That actually ticked me off pretty good, bucause that is such a great song and she butchered it like no other.

I have watched this show from day one and do not see myself ever able to stomach the noises generated on American Idol ever again in this lifetime.

Right now, Suzie has got it going on and a woman of her vocal talent and appeal (the girl next door comment was spot on) would actually make the most marketing sense to drive an old school band of 40 somethings into the IPods of todays peak demographic.

Marty has a lot of passion and shows the band he works very hard at his craft. However he is a frustrated Kurt Cobain and I am not sure he could be the INXS company guy they would want. Everytime I think of Marty working with the rest of the band in the studio I see flashes of that movie Rock Star.

Mig has the looks, the attitude and some of the talent to be successful with the band. I thought initially he already had the job and this whole show was a way to raise some serious cash. I do not get that vibe any longer. But he is certainly a force to get the job.

JD peaked too early. He came out doing the things the others would not do. But as time has gone on, the others have grown and he has stayed the same. I really believe the band does not like the fact that he did not work on thier song and if Ty was better last week, JD would have been gone. Unless someone really tanks this week, JD is gone. I can see now why he was homeless. He is a headcase.

Jordis is a fine singer. I think she is not quite as spellbinding as some people think. She has a knack for adjusting songs to match her skills. She knows what she is capable of and usually works well within the limits. That is great, and she should go on to have a fine career. But fronting INXS, nope.

Brooke Burke is stunning. Dave Navarro is cool and I had no idea what the other band members looked like before a few weeks ago, but they seem like a cool set of people.

I was late for work last night cuz I was trying to see as much as I could...saw everybody but Marty.

I think Jordis is about done, unfortunately. She doesn't seem to really be that interested anymore? Thoughts?

    Suzie keeps getting better!

Mig came on strong and JD was just JD.

The songs the first four wrote had pretty much the same theme other than JD's. Was Marty's another song about a departed friend? I am sure the band doesn't really wish to be pan handled to at this time.

Jordis is burning out and will go home tonight.

I thought Mig was good and loved his original.

Suzie is getting better every week.

I can't understand the fascination with JD. He is a headcase and would be trouble for the band.

Martys song was light and fun and was called "Trees". About him and a girl, "you and me up in a tree". It had some strong vocal points where he was borderline screaming but he held it in check. His cover of "Everlong" was acoustic with 2 of the house band guys on guitar and was good. Marty had a first for the show, a black pair of thongs thrown on stage after "Trees".

After the performances, they showed us the early voting with the ranking of all 5. The order from top to bottom was Marty, Suzie, JD, Mig, and Jordis.

I am gonna miss this show when it is over. Some excellent talent and a hell of a house band.

I ditto Jordis. She is just too young to put up with this pressure, but no doubt she has a career in the music business.

Suzie every week shows me that perhaps a woman could front INXS. She did well on the Bonnie Raitt song and I loved her original.

Mig did outstanding with the Black Crowes, but just thought his original was a little too much of a downer. Mig showed me last night he has issues and perhaps a tad too much sensitivity. Perhaps he needs to get the hell out of London and move back down under to get his man sack back to Australian standards.

Marty did ok on Everlong. He struggled too much to contain himself. But his original was really good and probably will go on to debut as a single. Damn good song writer that dude is

I thought JD came out of his slump a bit. He took a chance with changing up Nirvana and did not piss of Navaro, so that is good. And I liked his original. JD may be a little strange compared to the others. But considering the underground life Michael Hutchence led, strange would not exactly be new territory for the band.

I am also going to miss this show. Very well done. I am gonna really miss seeing Brooke Burke walk out on stage smoking hot two nights a week. Navarro is so much better the rock and roll cheerleader than Paula Abdul and the way these talented people really know music and can play instruments, write songs and adjust arrangements in such short order is amazing. The House Band simply rocks the house each and every week.

I know one thing, I will never be able to stomach the howls and squeals of American Idol any longer

Idol is gonna appear more bubblegum and pop than ever. Rockstar has set the bar high. Too bad there isn't another band needing a lead singer that could pull this off again.
