    This sucks.

I gave up on WoT several years ago, but this still sucks. I guess I was secretly hoping he'd finish it and then maybe I'd pick the series back up.

Anyway, that treatment he's going to get... wow. He's being awfully brave.

I read WOT for a while too but the last couple books were hard for me to get through. When he went away from Rand Althor and focused on the white tower he kind of lost me.

BTW, he is an author of sci fi books. WOT equals wheel of time. He also wrote some Conan novels.

That is very sad. I started reading the WOT series about 15 years ago. I was thinking about it last night because I am reading Knife of Dreams, which is the current book in the series that just came out last year. I hope that the treatment works and he gets better, thoughts and prayers go out.

The biggest problem to me was how long it has taken. To really get back into the flow and understand what is going on you just about have to re-read at least the previous book or two. In some books certain characters were barely there and so you would have to wait until the next book to catch up with them. You are right about the focus not being on Rand. When that happened, a lot of what made the series so fun and interesting kind of got lost.

that letter is even classic jordan. 3 paragraphs to explain he's got a rare blood disease and he starts chemo soon? if the dude'd just tighten it up a bit, maybe he'd be able to finish his friggin books -- shit, maybe i'd even be able to finish reading them.

the wheel of time is great, but i find it difficult to pick up after waiting a few years -- particularly with all the friggin characters he's got going on.

If he just told the story of Rand he would have finished by now. I am glad Tolkien left his extraneous stuff out of the main novels. Jordan would have included all the back story and made it very hard to read or even finish writting.

Seriously, I've probably said this a coupel hundred times in the last ten years, but if I have to read one more line about some chick "smoother her skirts", I'll go postal.

WoT books 1 thru 5 or so = some of the best fantasy ever
Book 6 & on = makes me want to gouge my eyes out so i can't read anymore.
