Denzel would be fine, I guess. Holcombe could come with him. I don't think he's a great DC and I'm not crazy about reaching "back to the glory days", but he's a competent option.

I do think Wilks is getting royally screwed by Arizona. They were clearly in a rebuild mindset when they brought him in. Now that they can't take the pain of the losing part of the rebuild, they're getting rid of him. It's ridiculous. That franchise is right back to being the dumpster fire that used to play in a college stadium.

Are they seriously considering firing him? Jesus Christ.

Tepper should kick Hurney upstairs and find some young talent evaluator to manage the roster.

If we do can Rivera, the one guy I'd consider hiring is Mike Mularkey. I know the eyeballs of some people might pop out of their skull upon reading that. I don't care. I touched on this last night. I know what wins games and I'm not going to apologize for it anymore.

There's more than one coach who would favor the smashmouth approach to offense. How about finding one with a track record of success?

Define "success". Mularkey had consecutive winning seasons in Tennessee with the quarterback combination of Marcus Mariota and Matt Cassel. He was coaching in the divisional round of the playoffs 11 months ago.

I don't know how to define success, but a failure in Buffalo, Jacksonville, and then arguably Tennessee probably isn't it. Fourth time lucky?

Five seasons as a head coach. Three of them are winning seasons. If you throw away his Jacksonville year, which you probably should because they had an expansion level roster, that's three winning seasons in four. His best quarterback has been an aging Drew Bledsoe.

I'm not trying to make a sweeping case for Mike Mularkey as head coach. The point I'm really making is that head coach is an overrated position. People want the celebrity. I just want a guy who won't get in the way.
