for Oklahoma-Texas to be a rivalry Texas might have to win a game in this century. But after Syracuse bowed out to Vermont and UCONN (the laptop stealing thieves they are) got beat by Hodge and the Wolfpack last year. No one beats Duke-UNC. Two of the best all time programs in college basketball, 8 miles apart and in the same state, and it's almost always deciding who is the best in the conference. The Big East has a good conference but they also have like half of division 1 in it now.

 

Studies on this very subject resulted in the Yankees/Red Sox as the best rivalry.

 

When you (the Yankees) own another team (the Red Sox) for decades, there is no rivalry.

 

The only reason they are such a hot rivalry is because of both teams are good. Yankees have over 25 world series titles since the trade of Babe Ruth and the Red Sox have 1. That's being owned in it's finest. It wasn't even a rivalry 10 years ago before the Yankees started their run with Torre and the Red Sox didn't make the playoffs. The only reason why they are rivals now is because they had 2 good ALCS' in a row. no matter how good or bad the Duke-UNC teams are they will still be rivals. I mean, just a couple of years ago everyone was saying how the Braves and the Yankees were the hottest rivalry in sports because it had that whole South vs. North thing going. Plus some of the players on the Red Sox have played for the Yankees and vice versa. Pro sports rivalries don't hold anything to college rivalries and that's in baseball, basketball, or football (especially true in football and basketball)

 

the D-Rays (aren't they AAA?) are owning the fuck out of the Yankees right now. Move along, no rivalry there.
